Dr. Xu has attained a prestigious position as the Marian A. Messerschmidt Professor in Cancer Research and serves as the Vice Chair for the Department of Oncology. Furthermore, she co-leads the Genetics and Epigenetics Program at the Carbone Comprehensive Cancer Center, University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Xu’s research endeavors have consistently received funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Department of Defense. Her significant contributions to the field have earned her numerous accolades, including the Department of Defense Era of Hope Scholar Award, the Society of Toxicology Achievement Award, the AACR-Bayer Innovation and Discovery Grant Awardee, and recognition as an AAAS Fellow, among others.
Dr. Xu’s research laboratory is dedicated to investigating estrogen receptors and their co-factors for potential applications in breast cancer therapy. Her team employs a range of methodologies, including biochemical and functional genomic approaches, as well as mouse genetics, to unravel the role of protein arginine methylation in controlling the epigenetics of cancer cells.
